Sue Shirey grew up in Raytown, Missouri, a town where you had to make your own fun, in a family full of funny people. Money was scarce but laughter and love were ubiquitous. After visiting California in High School, Sue knew she was a California girl and packed up her pickup truck and moved to San Diego. She never looked back and has been laughing on the west coast since 1987. After raising a family in Coronado, she started doing standup in 2010. She is lead singer in a band called The Suenamis and is newly single and ready to mingle!
Carolyn Ayres is a Minnesota native and relocated to South California nearly twenty years ago. Her Norwegian heritage inspired her hobby of Scandinavian humor at a young age. She was an investment executive and served as Deputy Secretary of State in Minnesota. Carolyn took her first comedy class in 2022 to reignite the sense of humor that has always carried her through hard times. “I like to turn gut punches into punch lines.” She was a co-founder of the Brassy Broads in 2024.
Born in northwest England, Ashley immigrated to Toronto Canada at age 4 with her parents and 3 sisters. As a young woman she made her way to Vancouver, BC where she boarded a bus south to Southern California. After a 6-week class she landed her first radio gig followed by positions at several SD stations. An opportunity with local NBC TV beckoned and Ashley spent the next 5 years as Host of Weekend Magazine. She then established a successful video production company. Now retired, Ashley spends her time with hubby Peter traveling the world, keeping a prolific vegetable garden and working on her stand-up comedy material.
Lynne Goodman has been seen gracing the comedy stages of San Diego and LA for the last 10 years. She started out as an actress and played in many comedic roles, such as Jeannette in Neil Simon’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers, and Gert in California Suite. She has performed at the LA and La Jolla Comedy Stores, North Hollywood’s Comedy Chateau and Madhouse in San Diego, among many other venues. During the day she works as a funny nurse, cheering up her patients. Many years ago, in nursing school her instructor told her she used her sense of humor in a therapeutic way. Thus, was the start of her comedy career.
Gina Manning has been performing standup since her early days in Southern California and handles live audiences with humor and grace. By happenstance, she attended middle school Drama class with Quentin Tarantino, where he tried to kiss her, but she declined. Gina began her career in the 1980’s teaching comedy traffic school for Lettuce Amuse U. Later, she trained at The Groundlings in Hollywood and Second City in Santa Monica. She also performed sketch comedy in The Carlsbad Funnies. A schoolteacher by day, sometimes she even makes her students laugh; at her, not with her. Gina is the host of the now-famous, Brassy Broads show.
Connie Terwilliger has spent a lifetime looking for things to keep her entertained. So, she ended up in radio and voiceovers - which don't actually support that quest as her most notable recent credits include the voice you hear in retail stores like Walgreens and Lowes and Dick's Sporting Goods - "Customer Service to Cosmetics".
At the urging of some of her fellow Brassy Broads, she started taking standup classes and testing out her routines at the kinder, gentler Open Mics here in San Diego. She also does theater where she has to find the funny in the lines the playwright wrote. Not easy if you are doing a drama.
Pam McGeary started her stand-up comedy career in NYC in the late 80’s where she won numerous comedy competitions. She toured the east coast as a road comic and appeared in the very first comic relief on HBO with Whoopie Goldberg, Robin Williams & Billy Crystal where she played Princess Diana. She has been in numerous TV shows and national commercials.
Currently Pam resurrected her comedy career in her 50’s and she currently is seen in comedy clubs all over Los Angeles and has most recently won the Best of the Fest in the Plano Texas Comedy Festival. Until recently she was living and traveling the circuit in her Winnebago RV with her cat, Blackjack. Her kids have decided she is either having a midlife crisis or is very “on trend!”

Meg was born with a microphone in her mouth. No surprise? One of her nicknames…..is Megaphone. As a Clinical Psychotherapist of 40 (+) years….. she built her client base from public speaking and through her radio show and local newspaper column.
She reeks of “authenticity”…..which makes her comedy AND her gift as a Therapist…..very enticing.
Originally from the Midwest….Meg considers San Diego her “soul’s home”…..and while she needed to return to the Midwest recently due to the cost of living in San Diego, she returns to San Diego when time permits to feed her soul and play with her Brassy Broads Troupe.
Another one of our hilarious troupe, Kathy Cullen will make you laugh until you pee.
